4 Advantages of Government Jobs in India over Private Jobs

Are you one of the fresh graduates browsing through jobs in India? There is plethora of job offers in India for graduates in private sector, yet before entering into the world of professionals, it’s better to go through the benefits of government jobs in India over private jobs.
Government Jobs are better than Private Jobs
1.       Job Security: Government Jobs in India offer better job security than private sector jobs. In the last decade private job offers in India offering world-class work environment, cab facilities and huge incentives attracted the youth, before which getting selected for government job was the desire of a job seeker. After the recession in IT sector, when large number of employees in MNCs lost their jobs, looks like we are now moving back to the times wherein government jobs in India are again becoming more attractive.
2.       Pay Scale, Benefits & Perks:  Earlier government jobs had often been less attractive for those looking for high paid jobs because of relatively lesser monetary benefits. Courtesy to 6th pay commission, the situation has changed for good. Even though pension benefits have been discontinued, yet there medical, childcare and housing benefits make government sector jobs a better choice over private sector jobs in India.
3.       Work-Life Balance: Most of the government employees have a better work-life balance than employees of private firms. Private companies are profit making institutions. Higher the salary, higher the targets. With less job security and high targets, employees in private sector cannot maintain a sound work-life balance. Job stress in private sector is much higher than in government sector.
4.       Inexorable salary increment: Progress in professional life is correlated with increase in salary. High paid private job offers in India don’t guarantee adequate and in-time increment and promotion even after exceptional performance. However, promotions and increment in government sector jobs are based on the service period.
